The Philippines and I
The Philippines is one of the world's largest archipelago. From the air, she was viewed as a series of mountain slopes, softened by tropical growth and interrupted by cultivated plains and terraces as well as inland seas and channels. It is a land whose mineral resources are inadequately mapped from north to south.

The abundance of resources made it known to be ''The Pearl of the Orient Seas''. Among other nations, whose interests aroused to colonized this native land. Going back to history, Philippines wonderful fate clogged down when Spanish regime reigned over the Philippine government. It was the time when right and freedom of Filpinos werere suppressed by this foreign colony.

The dark experience of the peace and loving people from the hands of this cruel rulers urged the Filipinos to revolt against the unjust government. United as lovers of freedom, the revolutionaries aimed to broaden the base of Philippine democracy both political and economic.

Revolutionary movements started to spread everywhere, in actions and in writings - where Noli Me Tangere and El Filbusterismo are some of the useful writings come to awaken the dirty friars who are devastating and exploiting not only the countr's resources but even its people.

Jose Rizal for instance, devoted his time for the good of the land and have shown the sincerity of his purpose by implementing his plans. However, he was confronted by a lot of ridiculers that even his life came at stake. That's why, his good resolution have grown ill.

Now, although we are not Jose Rizal, being a youth as the hope of the fatherland, going to school, is considered a duty to perform because education makes up the strong foundation of a nation. Being in good graces from our forefathers sacrifices, we are all obliged to value this freedom. Fight and work hard for it.

Jose Rizal, sacrificed his life for his countrymen and his nation. We can also do a sacrifice not necessarily to give our life but our love and care not only to a friend but to anyone, especially the needy.

Being not a society's liability and our devotion to duty are just same ways of showing our love for the country.

At present, we are enjoying the true essence of democracy- we can enjoy our freedom in any way, we are free to cast our votes and we are free to fight for our rights. We are drizzled with resources around us and we can attain stability in whatever means we can.

The free Philippines, we owe it from our peace loving forefathers. We must value, maintain and preserve it...
